On April 4, 2018 the Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) (USDA) published a document to announce the renewal of carrageenan on the National List, allowing its continued use in food products. The document states, “The NOSB recommended removing carrageenan because they determined that alternative materials, such as gellan gum, guar gum, or xanthan gum, are available for use in organic products” continuing, “AMS found sufficient evidence in public comments to the NOSB that carrageenan continues to be necessary for handling agricultural products because of the unavailability of wholly natural substitutes (§ 6517(c)(1)(ii)). Carrageenan has specific uses in an array of agricultural products, and public comments reported that potential substitutes do not adequately replicate the functions of carrageenan across the broad scope of use. Therefore, carrageenan continues to meet the OFPA criteria for inclusion on the National List.” ^[20] The rule went into effect May 29, 2018.

From November 21-24, 2018, we participated in the Indonesia Seaweed branding initiative of the Indonesian Seaweed Industry Association (ASTRULI) at the SIAL Interfood tradeshow in Jakarta.

As a proud member of ASTRULI, we joined our fellow members of the association for the brand launching event. We also participated in the promotion activities to raise the awareness among international buyers in the food industry about the Indonesian carrageenan industry.

We are looking forward to participate in more international promotion events with ASTRULI to expand our markets for our carrageenan in the year to come.

Attending the 2018 Seaweed Congress in the Philippines

From October 10-12, 2018, we attended the 2018 Seaweed Congress, organized by the Seaweed Industry Association of the Philippines. The congress was focusing on sustainability opportunities and challenges for the seaweed industry.

During the congress we were able to network with many experts and Filipino producers of carrageenan and learn about their approaches and government support programmes for the seaweed and carrageenan industry..

Pr1megum promoting carrageenan at Indonesian Trade Expo

As a member of ARLI, the Indonesian Seaweed Association, we participated in the Indonesian Trade Expo from October 24-28, 2018.

It was a very successful event, our carrageenan product applications attracted a lot of attention from buyers not only from Indonesia but also from Malaysia, Singapore, Japan and Middle East.

Pr1megum at Food Ingredient Asia 2018

From October 3-5, 2018, we attended the 2018 Food Ingredients Asia (FI Asia), at Jakarta International Expo, Jakarta.
We met both local and international buyer who interested in our carrageenan products. For export purposes, we export only the pure products such as alkali treated cottonii chip (ATC) and semi refined carrageenan (SRC). For domestic market, we serve blended product such as meat application for industries.

Pr1megum carrageenan at 2017 Food Ingredients Global

From November 28- 30, we attended the 2017 Food Ingredients Global (FIE) at Frankfurt, Germany.

Arranged by Indonesian Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries of under slogan “Remarkable Indonesia”, we proudly join the event as Indonesian seaweed producer. It was a success building network with international customer and suppliers for our product Semi Refined carrageenan Food Grade and Alkali Treated Cottonii Chip (ATC) for Pet Food and Food Grade.
